Dancing With Madam Pele
Volcano National Park Big Island Hawaii
On a moonlit night in Hawaii Volcano National Park once again lava within Halema'uma'u illuminated the caldera. In this image taken from Kilauea Iki Trail I photographed a panoramic image of the Kilauea Iki crater floor along with Halema'uma'u Crater. The large cinder cone on the left of the frame is called Puu Puai and was formed in an eruption in 1959. The ohia tree forest was well lit by the rising moon. The star of the show was the plume coming out of Halema'uma'u Crater that to me resembled a person dancing Hula which is why I named the photo Dancing With Madam Pele.
