In 2018 The Big Island experienced one of the largest eruptions of our lifetime. Kilauea Volcano erupted, creating over 20 fissures in the Puna district on the island's east side. One of the largest fissures which created the most impact was Fissure 8. In this image, I captured the tip of the summit of Mauna Kea, which is high above the clouds. In this photo, you can see the glow from Fissure 8 through the clouds. The rising full moon and the last light from the setting sun light up the landscape. This was a once-in-a-lifetime photo that I was very happy to capture. Photo © copyright by Wade Morales.
