Mauna Kea is the tallest volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a dormant volcano that has ceased eruption for about 3,600 years. Mauna Kea is a sacred place for many Native Hawaiians and also has some of the best views of the stars in the world.
In this image, I captured the Milky Way behind the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. I was up there with a friend chasing a lightning storm and took advantage of the opportunity when I noticed this vibrant scene unfold.
