One of the most beautiful places on earth is Waipiʻo Valley. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit this sacred valley. In this image, I photographed two wild horses grazing in front of the iconic Hiʻilawe Waterfall. It was actually pure luck to have these horses walk right into the frame and decide to hang out for a bit, allowing me to capture this photo. Waipiʻo Valley is like no other place in the world. Waipiʻo Valley is located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Hiʻilawe is one of the tallest and most powerful waterfalls in Hawaii, located on the Big Island. The waterfall drops about 1,450 feet (442m), with the main drop of 1,201 feet (366m), into Waipio Valley on Lalakea Stream. The waterfall is an essential water source for taro farmers in Waipi'o Valley. The water flows through the valley down to the ocean, where there is a beautiful black sand beach. Wild horses can be seen roaming throughout the valley and on the beach.
